Heritage

Location: Sanctuary Building – First Floor (enter from the fellowship hall)
Teacher: Betty Niswonger

Heritage provides a Bible study class for couples and single adults age 50+. Traditional Bible studies are done using curriculum from Smith-Helwys’ Formations literature series. Lessons are frequently centered around Lectionary and Church Year themes. In 2015-2016, the class will be working through the Gospel of Mark.

Kairos

Location: Education Building – Second Floor
Teachers: Gregg Mealor and Lloyd Spruill; Class members may teach special topics as well.

Kairos is not your ordinary Sunday School Class. Join us for a blend of scholarship, missions, and fellowship. Two Sundays a month, Kairos is a discussion-oriented class where issues of faith, theology and the Christian life can be studied in-depth. The additional two Sundays a month are spent with a focus on missions and fellowship. In 2015-2016, Kairos will meet one Sunday a month at Deja Brew for Coffee to have discussions “in the world,” and also spend one Sunday a month helping to pack bags for Backpack Buddies. On scholarship Sundays, topics cover a broad range and can include social issues, traditional Bible study, theology, spiritual development, and studies related to the origin and development of our faith traditions and teachings. Recent studies have included: “Can I Know God?”, “Saving Jesus (Living with the Issues curriculum), and an ethics-based Advent Bible study. The class is for all adult ages, and an inquiring spirit and open mind are welcome.

Our Journey Together

Our Journey Together provides a class for adults of all ages. An open inquiry/discussion format is followed focused on a variety of Biblical studies and related topics in the areas of faith and the spiritual life.  During the fall of 2016, topics will include faith, reason and Christian apologetics, with a study of The Allure of Gentleness, Defending the Faith in the Manner of Jesus, by the late Dallas Willard; a closer look at wisdom literature and Ellen Davis’s book, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs; and an Advent series leading up to Christmas Day.
