Baby Dedication
Baby Dedication is a service created for the purpose of giving parents the opportunity to publicly affirm their desire to raise their children in Christ and to celebrate that decision with family and friends. This service takes place during the Sunday morning worship service and is available to members. Those interested should contact the Children’s Director to meet with and plan for this special service.
Sunday Morning Schedule
  9:30 - 10:30 am – Sunday School
 
10:30 - 10:45 am – Snack time
 
10:45 am – Parents pick up children Kindergarten through 5th grade for worship service

There will be a Children’s Message during the service and then children in grades K-2 can follow the Children’s Worship Leaders to the Sonshine Room for the remainder of the service.  *Children in grades 3-5 will remain in the service*

11:00 - 12:00 pm – Extended Session nursery care for ages 4 and under

12:00 - 12:30 pm - Immediately following the service, children K-5 will have Children's choir in the Lydia room across from the choir room.  The leader for this will be Nan Dickman, Music Associate.

Sunday School Classes

The Infant Nursery- this class will be downstairs in the new building. The classroom is directly ahead when walking down the hallway from the main entrance. 

 

The Toddler’s & Two’s – Twinkling Stars class will meet downstairs in the new building in the classroom to the left of the cubbies.

 

The 3 & 4 year old class – FROGS class will meet downstairs in the new building, in the classroom to the right of the cubbies.

 

Dream Catchers- This K - 1st class will meet on the second floor of the Education Building in the Sonshine Room.

 

 

Jesus' Disciples - This 2nd – 5th grade class will also meet on the second floor of the Education Building, next to the Sonshine room.  They are "Discovering the Bible" with hands-on activities to learn who, what, when, where, and why of the Bible and its relevance for the children.  This class is led by a teaching team.

 

Past Children's Activities

ABC's of Advent

The children used this devotional book with a reading, scripture verse, and some kind of activity or discussion for each letter of the alphabet.

Project Night Night

We packed 66 bags!  The children delivered them to the Raleigh Rescue Mission and Interact Domestic Shelter. www.projectnightnight.org

NEIGHBORS -- Across the street and across the world

CBFNC Children’s Mission Day at Forest Hills Baptist Church.  The children learned 4 different ways to do missions, even some they can participate in.

 We raised $234 this year.

 

MBK & MBC Fall Festival

The children had a great time doing the cake walk, playing bingo, getting their face painted, going on a hay ride and through a hay maze, and decorating pumpkins and cookies.

Pancake Pajama Party

After a delicious breakfast, we had our own worship service learning the parts of the service, what they mean, and how everyone can participate, even the children.
Wednesday Night Schedule

Mission Kids - 6:30-7:30 pm 

 

K – 5th grade meet in the church library.

 

Preschool Choir - 7:00-7:20 pm

      

     Ms. Carol will come to the toddler room and have music/choir for this time.

 

Nursery Care - 6:30-7:30 pm

 

Nursery Care be provided in the toddler room downstairs while parents and grandparents participate in the Wednesday night activities.

*if your child is finished with their meal before activities, please take them to the library after 6:15pm.

WHY A BOOK CLUB?

  * To discover the joy of reading, of learning, how to choose books that enrich and direct our lives, such as the Bible.

  * To encourage the use of the church library and discover its many resources.

 

WHAT WILL WE READ? 

  * Lots of books, all sizes, all kinds, some from home and some from church library.  

  * At least one book a reading session should be from the church library.  (plan to check out lots of books)

 

WHERE WILL WE READEverywhere 

 

WHAT IS A “READING BUDDY?” Someone who will listen to you read or read with you ...can be a parent, a grandparent, a special adult, an older sibling, etc.

  * Reading Buddy records the minutes read on the “FOOD” for the mascots. 

 

WILL WE DO SOME WRITINGYes, special materials will be provided to help you with writing your own stories.  

 

MASCOT for Book Club:

  * Each child will have A VERY HUNGRY PIG to feed.

  * Mascots will live in the church library.

  * For each 30 minutes of reading and/or being read to will earn

     - (1) vegetable or (1) fruit  to feed the VERY HUNGRY PIG.

     - 1 pink pig (with reader’s name and book titles read) for the church library bulletin board.

 

Read-A-Thons with Special Guests Are Planned for Early Spring

 

All children may participate even if unable to attend Mission Kids on Wednesday night.

Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies

 

     From January through May, the Mission Kids are again sponsoring a church-wide mission project for the Backpack Buddies program.  The InterFaith Food Shuttle runs this program in seven counties in North Carolina.  Backpack Buddies provides nutritious, child-friendly foods for the weekends for qualifying students.

 

How can you help? 

    * Donate new or gently-used backpacks. 

    * Give cash or write a check to InterFaith Food Shuttle.  This enables them to buy in bulk and get more for the money.  Be sure to write "Backpack Buddies" on the memo line of the check.

    * Donate requested foods and place them on the Backpack Buddies Table in the Fellowship Hall.

 

     Collected items are delivered to the InterFaith Food Shuttle after the third Sunday of the month, but items may be brought at any time.

 

These are the items needed for the backpacks:

     Pop-top canned fruit & vegetables

     Canned meat (chicken, turkey, tuna)

     Meat-based soups & stews

     Shelf-stable milk or soy milk

     Cereal, grits, or oatmeal

     Healthy snacks: dried fruit, granola bars, etc.

     100% juice (in cans, boxes, or plastic bottles)

     Noodles (EasyMac, Spaghettios, Ramen)  

 

Check each item for expiration date. 

No Peanuts or Peanut products are accepted. 

Please remember to send only individual sized items!
